Hello!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am a first time blogger and I have spent the past couple of months talking myself into doing this. The name Annika’s Sewing Corner comes from that I literally have a corner of my living room for sewing.
Sewing and knitting has always been a very big part of my life. I like to make a lot of things. I made mostly clothes when I was younger, then I went on to quilting and more recently it has been mostly pencil cases, bags, cushions and fabric baskets. The patterns I have designed all falls into this last category. I love colour, especially blue colours. That doesn’t mean that every thing I make is bright and bold. The beach and the ocean is very important to me and that can be seen in a lot of things that I do. I like to use a lot of blue, blue-greens and “sandy” colours.

IMG_0032I made this beach wall-hanging for a competition about a year ago. It is made after a photo I took at my favourite  beach.

20160125_121231154_iOSAt the moment I am working on a pillow in a lot of light blue/aqua colours on a purple background. I am using a pattern called “Pretty in Pink” from Don’t Look Now by Kellie Wulfsohn that I bought at a craft show a few years ago together with my daughter. It is applique with a lot of small pieces. I find this kind of project therapeutic, not everything has to be done quickly and in a hurry.
I have drawn all 150+ shapes on to Vlisofix and ironed them on to ten different fabrics.
I will let you know how it turns out.

Until then Happy Sewing and take care!
