Hello Everyone!
Tonight I’m sending these three pencil cases off to three girls. I used the same method as in the tutorial for boxed zipper pouches that you can find on my tutorials page.
These cases measures 3x3x9 inches when finished. To get this size you start with a 12 1/2″ x 6 1/4″ rectangle. Cut out a 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle on each short side, leaving 1 3/4″ above the rectangle and 2″ below it. Cut two of these for the lining and for the outer pieces you cut 12 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ for the top part and 12 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ for the bottom part. Cut two of each and cut out 1 1/2″ squares from the bottom corners on the top pieces and from the top corners on the bottom pieces.
I have also added the names using the letters on my sewing machine. For the tabs I cut one piece 2″ x 4″ that made a 1/2″ x 4″ piece that I cut in half.
We’ve just finished our winter school holidays here in Melbourne and tomorrow my girls are going back to school. My eldest daughter is starting her last semester of high school. We had a nice trip to Brisbane for a few days with warmer temperatures than here. One of the highlights was watching the whales.
Until next time, happy sewing and take care!
Annika
